Education and Tours
We have been forced to suspend or modify our education and tours in the interests of effective social distancing due to COVID-19.
Please note our Maternity tours have been cancelled until further notice.
Our Maternity Ward Tour gives you an opportunity to come in and take a look around our wonderful Maternity Unit.
We will show you our Birthing Suites, Postnatal Ward, Baby Nursery and give you an insight into the other facilities and services that Prince of Wales Private Hospital has to offer.
Tours run for approximately 20-30 minutes in duration, please ensure you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the commencement of your tour.
We are currently working on converting our antenatal classesinto a digital format as a social distancing measure and to allow mums-to-be toself-isolate until delivery. We aim to offer the same topics as were covered inour group sessions, including birthing, parenting, epidural and caesareaninformation sessions. Please check back soon. Rest assured the digital learningwill be of the same high quality as the face-to-face format, offering aninteractive experience and opportunities for all your questions to be answered.
We continue to run our breastfeeding drop-in and discussion group, however, with social distancing measures in place.
It is an opportunity to feed your baby under the supervision of a Lactation Consultant while you are in the Maternity Ward. Sessions may also cover common breastfeeding issues, such as understanding how human milk is made, how a baby drinks at the breast, and how to trouble-shoot problems.
Held in the Education Room, it occurs several times a day, Monday to Friday.
Our physiotherapists can advise you on matters, including:
- pelvic floor exercises
- core strength following childbirth
- assessments following surgical birth
- back care
Fees may apply for physiotherapy assessment and health fund rebates may be available in some cases.
Baby bathing is usually not done until the second or thirdday. Bathing takes place in the nursery and a member of nursing/midwifery staffwill be available to assist you.
A Lactation Consultant is available on the Maternity Ward 7days per week. The Lactation Consultant is available to see mums who requireadditional breastfeeding support beyond what our experienced midwives canprovide.
