Every birth is unique and each journey is a personal one. Our maternity team support your choice of birthing journey and will provide the best possible care for you, your baby and family. We’ll be there for you, every step of the way.
You are welcome to contact the Birthing Suite on 02 9650 4444 at any time, day or night.
It’s important to contact your obstetrician or the Birthing Suite without delay if you have any concerns about your baby’s movements, or you experience any of the following symptoms during your pregnancy:
- Vaginal bleeding
- Ruptured membranes
- Continuous leaking of fluid
- Premature labour prior to 37 weeks
- Unusual or severe abdominal pain
- Blurred vision
- Dizziness
- Regular contractions.
Am I in labour?
It can be difficult to tell when labour has started, so feel free to call the Birthing Suite and talk to one of our experienced midwives, even in the middle of the night.
In any event, before you come to hospital, please call the Birthing Suite so we can prepare for your arrival.
When you arrive, and are in labour, go directly to the Birthing Suite on Level 6 - follow these directions.
Elective Caesarean
A planned Caesarean section is generally a straightforward, yet highly-planned surgical operation. Our obstetricians, surgical staff, and midwives have a great deal of experience performing Caesarean sections, and caring for patients afterwards.
You can expect to have a pre-admissions appointment with one of our midwives within 2 weeks before your scheduled date. This is to complete as much of your paperwork as possible. We’ll also call you the day before surgery to confirm your operation, fasting and admission times, and to ensure you don’t have any symptoms of a respiratory illness.
Sometimes, mums who have planned a Caesarean may go into spontaneous labour. While this is not necessarily a risk, you should call the Birthing Suite immediately.
