ENT and Head and Neck Surgery
The head and neck house many of our critical senses and functions – hearing and smell; breathing and speech. It’s very important that patients, young and old, receive a high standard of care for any condition affecting the ears, nose and throat.
The Prince of Wales Private Hospital clinical team is made up of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeons and General Surgeons who specialise in head and neck procedures. Some have co-appointments at the Sydney Children's Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital (for newborn care) with whom we share the Randwick campus. They cover a wide range of specialist surgery in this field, treating adults and children for all related issues, including:
- Ear - Recurring ear infections, hearing problems/loss, perforated eardrum, ‘Glue Ear’ and ‘Surfers Ear’.
- Nose – Nasal polyps, breathing problems, recurring sinusitis, allergies, broken nose, obstructive sleep apnoea and snoring.
- Throat – Speech and voice problems, recurring tonsillitis, enlarged adenoids, parotid and thyroid issues, neck lumps and cancers.
The head and neck, with its delicate bones and structures, can be challenging to access through surgery. Patients undergoing procedures at our Hospital benefit from the minimally-invasive surgical and investigative equipment on hand. Some procedures, such as ear surgeries, can be performed using a keyhole approach. This means less downtime, fewer post-operative infections, and less scarring, especially around the soft neck tissues. The Hospital also has the latest microscopes, microsurgery equipment, and nasal and sinus surgery equipment.
Complex surgeries are complemented by our highly-experienced nursing teams, both in theatre and on the ward, as well as the Hospital’s dedicated Intensive Care Unit.
