Gynaecology Services
Women’s health is a very broad field with a spectrum of conditions and diseases. Sometimes, a patient will need surgery to improve their functioning and quality of life, to increase their fertility, or to manage pelvic pain. Other times, they will need surgery to save their life.
At Prince of Wales Private Hospital, we are known for our exceptional gynaecology services, particularly in the areas of oncology, pain management, and advanced endoscopic surgery. We are co-located with the Royal Hospital for Women, a major public teaching hospital, so our gynaecologists have insight into the latest research and emerging technologies.
Our specialist team is made up of highly-experienced, multi-skilled surgeons, including certified Gynaecological Oncologists, Endoscopic Surgeons, Pelvic Floor Surgeons, and Robotic Surgeons. All are dedicated to getting women well and back to living life.
Together, they offer women and adolescents a range of gynaecological surgery options, such as treatments for:
- Abnormal cervical pathology – Abnormal pap smears.
- Benign conditions – Abnormal vaginal bleeding and menstrual disorders, endometriosis, ovarian pathology.
- Cancers – Of the uterus, ovaries, cervix and vulva (gynaecological oncology surgeons are registered on www.canrefer.org.au).
- Infertility – Endometriosis and fibroids.
- Pain – In the pelvis, vagina, perineum, abdominal wall, and after childbirth.
- Pelvic floor and uro-gynaecology issues - Prolapsed uterus and incontinence.
Our experts achieve wonderful results in many complex cases, working closely with other surgical specialties where needed, such as urology, colorectal surgery and medical oncology.
The Hospital provides a range of technologies to further improve patient outcomes. For instance, surgeons are supported with minimally-invasive robotic and advanced endoscopic surgical devices, and the latest sentinel lymph node imaging and pelvic pain modulation systems.
After-care is of a high-level, with ICU capabilities, experienced nursing staff, pain management anaesthetic staff, allied health staff, and close links with rehabilitation and specialty support if needed.
